Scooter Rider Dies After Being Hit by Truck in Bara

Bara, September 26: A scooter rider died after being hit by a truck at Tin Number Bridge in Jitpur-Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-22 of Bara district on Friday night.

According to the District Police Office, Bara, the accident occurred at around 11 p.m. when a truck, Na 6 Kha 3644, traveling from Hetauda toward Pathlaiya hit a scooter, Ba Pra 02-065 Pa 7575, from behind.

The scooter rider, identified as around 35-year-old Yogendra Magar, son of Mekh Bahadur Magar of Letang Municipality-1, Morang, sustained serious injuries in the accident. He suffered a severe head injury.

Magar was rushed to Narayani Hospital in Birgunj for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead at around 11:50 p.m. while undergoing treatment, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Min Bahadur Ghale, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Bara.

Following the accident, a police team led by Senior Sub-Inspector Prakash Kumar Khatri from Area Police Office Amlekhgunj and Deputy Superintendent of Police Dayakrishna Bhatt from Area Police Office Simara reached the site.

Police have taken the truck and its 33-year-old driver, Rajan Khadka of Jitpur-Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-21, into custody.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, police spokesperson Ghale said.
