Kathmandu, September 30-The Supreme Court has directed the police to provide details explaining the legal grounds for arresting and keeping medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai in custody.
Hearing a habeas corpus petition filed on Prasai’s behalf on Wednesday, a bench led by Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal ordered the authorities to submit a written response within 48 hours.
The court has asked the police to clarify the circumstances and legal basis for Prasai’s arrest and continued detention.
The habeas corpus petition had challenged the legality of Prasai’s arrest and detention. Following the initial hearing, the Supreme Court sought an explanation from the police regarding the matter.
