Saptari: A two-year-old girl was found dead in bushes behind her home in Shambhunath Municipality-3 of Saptari district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Khushi, daughter of Irfan Khatun, a local resident of Shambhunath-3. According to her family, Khushi was playing at home until around 9:40 a.m. on Sunday.
The family alerted police after the child went missing. Police and local residents launched a search and later found her body in the bushes behind the house.
Superintendent of Police Hemraj Ghimire of the District Police Office, Saptari, said an investigation into the incident is underway.
Police have also initiated the necessary procedures for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
