Protests Continue in Delhi Demanding Chief Election Commissioner’s Resignation

Kathmandu, October 3
— Protests demanding the resignation of India’s Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar are set to continue in New Delhi on Saturday.

Neha Bora, national president of the All India Students’ Association, has called on supporters to gather at Jantar Mantar at 1 p.m. The protests are being organized over issues related to the Election Commission, with opposition parties and student organizations continuing their demonstrations.

Meanwhile, Abhijit Deepke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, has announced plans to stage another protest in Delhi on October 10, also demanding Kumar’s resignation.

Opposition parties and members associated with left-wing student organizations had gathered at Jantar Mantar on Friday. However, Delhi Police did not permit demonstrations at the main Jantar Mantar site.

Authorities had also imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita in several parts of New Delhi, limiting public gatherings and demonstrations. According to reports, police detained hundreds of protesters before they could reach Jantar Mantar.

The Cockroach Janta Party also held a demonstration at Shivaji Park in Mumbai over the same issue.
