Kathmandu, August 21: Nepal will begin its campaign in the Top End T20 Series on Friday by taking on host side NT Strike in the Northern Territory of Australia.
The match between Nepal and NT Strike is scheduled to begin at 2:15 p.m. Nepal will compete under the Nepal ‘A’ setup, with Anil Shah leading the team. NT Strike will be captained by Australian cricketer D’Arcy Short.
NT Strike has a strong squad featuring experienced players such as Short, along with Big Bash League stars Jordan Silk, Tom Andrews and Wes Agar.
Several players who featured against Nepal in the previous edition, including D’Arcy Short, Kade McKeon, Hamish Martin, Jordan Silk, Matt Hammond and Tom Andrews, have been retained in the squad this time as well.
Nepal faced NT Strike in the previous edition of the tournament and suffered a 42-run defeat. Nepal will now look to produce a stronger performance and improve on last year's result.
This is Nepal’s second consecutive appearance in the Top End T20 Series. After making its debut in the previous edition, Nepal has returned to the competition this year with another opportunity to test its players against quality opposition.
Nepal will face six teams during the tournament, including NT Strike, Bangladesh High Performance, Hobart Hurricanes, ACT Comets, Kingsmen and Victoria.
The matches will provide Nepal’s players with valuable exposure to different styles of cricket and an opportunity to assess their abilities against teams of varying levels and experience.
