Kathmandu, September 13 — Leaders elected at the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress will now be recognized as central members of the party.
A meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee held on Sunday decided to grant former office-bearers and central members elected from the 14th General Convention the status of central members.
According to party spokesperson Devraj Chalise, necessary provisions will be made in accordance with the party statute to accommodate former members of the previous Central Committee who did not participate in the special general convention as central members.
With this decision, leaders from the party's non-establishment faction who were elected at the 14th General Convention will also receive the status of central members.
The meeting also decided that active members who renewed their party membership last December but have not yet updated their membership records will be allowed to participate in the 15th General Convention, spokesperson Chalise said.
The decision is expected to address issues related to membership renewal and updating and ensure that eligible party members can participate in the upcoming general convention.
