All Doctors at Narayani Hospital Submit Collective Resignation, Warn of Nationwide Protest

 


Birgunj, July 28 — Doctors working at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj have submitted collective resignations in protest against the vandalism at the hospital and the physical assault on medical personnel.

The doctors had launched a protest demanding action against those involved in the incident and the resignation of the Chief District Officer and District Police Chief of Parsa. After their demands were not addressed, they decided to submit mass resignations.

According to pediatrician Dr. Ramsufal Ram of Narayani Hospital, around 70 doctors are currently working at the hospital, and most of them have already submitted their resignations. He said that 30 doctors had handed over their resignation letters to Medical Superintendent Dr. Chittaranjan Shah at around 10 p.m. on Monday.

Dr. Ram said that by Tuesday, around 60 to 65 doctors had already submitted their resignations, while some remaining doctors were also preparing to do so.

The protesting doctors have warned that if their demands are not fulfilled, doctors across Nepal could also submit collective resignations and launch a nationwide protest.

The incident at Narayani Hospital has intensified the debate over the security of healthcare workers and safety conditions in health institutions across Nepal. While the government has said that legal action against those involved is underway, doctors have continued their protest demanding a safe and respectful working environment.
