Curfew Imposed in Parts of Dhanusha and Siraha Following Sunsari Incident

 

Kathmandu, July 30 — Authorities have imposed an indefinite curfew in sensitive areas of Dhanusha and Siraha districts following protests linked to the recent incident in Kaptanganj, Sunsari.

In Dhanusha, Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luitel issued a curfew order effective from 3:30 PM on Thursday until further notice. The restriction covers areas including Laxminiya Hat Bazaar Chowk, Sinurjoda Chowk, Laxmipur Bagewa, Belauni Road, the M.Q. Steel area, sections of the Hulaki Highway, Nagarain Municipality, Sohani, Manimandap, Nepal Nursery, ISKCON Janakpur, the Dumatmati Bridge, Bela, and the Kadari Mosque.

Meanwhile, in Siraha, the District Administration Office imposed a curfew in Golbazar starting at 2:00 PM on Thursday. According to Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel, the order will remain in effect until further notice. The restricted zone extends from Kasha Khola in Golbazar Municipality-3 to Choharwa Chowk in the west, and from Sainik Chowk in Ward No. 6 to the area surrounding the Rastriya Multiple Campus in Ward No. 4.

During the curfew, all forms of public movement, gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, meetings, and protests are prohibited. Security has been tightened in both districts to prevent any escalation of unrest.

The local administrations have urged residents to remain calm, follow official directives, and refrain from spreading or acting on rumors as security personnel continue to monitor the situation.
