Golbazar Shooting: Government and Ganesh Yadav's Family Reach Seven-Point Agreement

 


Janakpurdham, August 1 — The Government of Nepal and the family of Ganesh Yadav, who was killed in a police shooting in Golbazar, Siraha, have reached a seven-point agreement.

Home Minister Sudan Gurung visited Yadav's residence in Tulsiyahi, Aurahi Rural Municipality-2, on Friday night and held talks with the bereaved family. The agreement was finalized following the meeting.

Under the agreement, the government will immediately begin the process of declaring Ganesh Yadav a martyr. His family will receive financial assistance of Rs. 1 million from the Government of Nepal.

The agreement also states that one eligible member of the family will be provided with employment. In addition, Yadav's siblings will receive free education, while his parents will be entitled to free medical treatment at government hospitals.

The government has further committed to conducting an impartial investigation into the Golbazar incident, taking legal action against those found responsible, and implementing the recommendations of the investigation committee. It has also agreed to construct a memorial park in honor of Ganesh Yadav.

According to the agreement, Ganesh Yadav's funeral was scheduled to be conducted on Friday.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the government by Home Minister Sudan Gurung and on behalf of the victim's family by Ganesh Yadav's father, Rambriksh Yadav.
