Government and Microfinance Victims Reach Five-Point Agreement, Protests Called Off

 


Kathmandu, July 31 — The Government of Nepal and representatives of microfinance victims have reached a five-point agreement following talks held on Friday night.

The agreement was reached after discussions between the government’s negotiation team and representatives of the Microfinance Victims' Struggle Committee.

Following the deal, the microfinance victims announced the withdrawal of all protest programs, including their hunger strike.

Both sides have pledged to implement the agreed points through the necessary procedures. The agreement is seen as an important step toward addressing the long-standing concerns of people affected by microfinance institutions.

With the protests now suspended, both the government and the victims have expressed hope that the remaining issues will be resolved through continued dialogue.

The viral video shows Gupta, who was elected to the House of Representatives from Siraha Constituency-1, standing on the back of a moving Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle.
