Agreement Reached Between Government and United Hindu Front in Janakpur

 


Janakpur, August 1: The Government of Nepal and the protest-led United Hindu Front have reached an agreement following two rounds of talks held in Janakpur on Saturday.

According to Dhanusha Assistant Chief District Officer Bhudev Jha, both sides agreed that the government will act in accordance with the agreed points. The agreement was reached after discussions between government representatives and the protesting group.

During the talks, the United Hindu Front presented a 13-point memorandum of demands, which includes a proposal to restore Nepal as a Hindu state. The government has been given three months to hold further discussions on the issue before taking any decision.

The negotiations were held in an effort to ease tensions in Madhesh that escalated after the recent Sunsari incident. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, representatives of the Madhesh Provincial Government, local governments, and leaders of the protesting group.

An initial round of talks had taken place earlier in the day, during which the protesters formally presented their demands. The second round concluded with both sides signing the agreement aimed at maintaining peace, harmony, and mutual tolerance in the region.
