Birgunj Curfew Lifted After Three Days

 


Birgunj, August 1 — The Parsa District Administration has lifted the prohibitory order (curfew) that had been in place for the past three days, citing improvements in the local security situation.

According to Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal, the restriction, which had been imposed on the evening of July 30, was officially lifted on Saturday after authorities concluded that there was no longer a need to maintain the order.

The curfew had been enforced following protests and concerns over possible unrest linked to the Golbazar incident in Siraha. However, the protests were called off after the government and the victim's family reached an eight-point agreement, and the funeral process for the deceased has already begun.

With the demonstrations suspended, normal life in Birgunj has gradually resumed. Markets, industries, transportation services, and other business activities have returned to regular operation.

The district administration has urged residents to maintain peace, communal harmony, and respect the law while carrying out their daily activities.
