Iran Warns of Decisive Response if Attacked Again, Gulf Energy Facilities Could Be Targeted

 


Kathmandu, August 2: Iran has warned that it will deliver a strong and decisive response if the United States or Israel launches another military attack against the country. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the remarks during separate telephone conversations on Saturday with senior officials from Türkiye, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, saying that any new military action would further destabilize the Middle East.

During his discussions with Pakistan's Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Araghchi stressed that Iran would respond proportionately and firmly to any aggression.

Meanwhile, Nour News, a media outlet affiliated with Iran's Supreme National Security Council, warned that if the United States or its allies target Iran's energy infrastructure, Iran could retaliate by striking oil and gas facilities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Israel.

On the other hand, U.S. President Donald Trump said during a Cabinet meeting at Camp David that there is still room for a diplomatic solution. He noted that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Jared Kushner are continuing efforts to reach an agreement with Iran. However, Trump also indicated that further military action remains an option if necessary.

Rising tensions between the United States and Iran have continued to push global crude oil prices higher. Brent crude prices increased by about 24 percent in July, and analysts believe prices could rise further in the coming months.

The conflict has also disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy transit routes, increasing pressure on the global economy.

Meanwhile, Kuwait announced that it had intercepted several drones launched from Iran. Although falling debris caused minor damage to some government and private properties in northern Kuwait, no casualties were reported.

In Yemen, the Iran-backed Houthi rebels warned that they could target vessels passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also reported two separate maritime security incidents near the coast of Oman. One oil tanker suffered engine room damage after being struck by an unidentified projectile, while another experienced an explosion nearby but escaped without significant damage.
