RSP to Hold Discussion With Ministers and Lawmakers Amid Growing Tensions in Parliament

Kathmandu: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has expressed concern over growing disagreements between the government and its lawmakers in the House of Representatives.

The party is set to hold an interaction with its ministers and lawmakers on Wednesday. The meeting will take place at the parliamentary party office at 11 a.m., where party chair Rabi Lamichhane is expected to issue necessary instructions.

According to an RSP leader, the meeting will review the growing differences between the government and party lawmakers, as well as recent activities inside and outside Parliament.

The party is also preparing to caution lawmakers who have raised questions regarding parliamentary discipline. The leadership is concerned about the increasing tendency among some lawmakers to use inappropriate language in Parliament and engage in activities that may undermine parliamentary decorum.

The issue gained attention during Tuesday's House meeting when RSP lawmaker Ashika Tamang sought to ask a supplementary question after expressing dissatisfaction with the response given by Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal.

However, Speaker D.P. Aryal reminded Tamang to maintain parliamentary decorum and respect the dignity of the House. After the Speaker did not allow her to speak, Tamang left the parliamentary meeting.

Following the incident, the RSP is reviewing the conduct and parliamentary role of its lawmakers, with the party leadership expected to discuss ways to maintain discipline and coordination within the parliamentary party.
