Makwanpur, September 8, 2026: Police have arrested two people after seizing 162 kilograms of marijuana from a car in Bhawar, Manahari Rural Municipality–9, Makwanpur.
The seizure was made at around 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday when a patrol team from the Area Police Office, Manahari, stopped a car traveling from Bhawar toward Kharanga based on a special tip-off.
According to police, the car, bearing registration number Ba. Pra. 01–025 Cha 0877, was carrying 13 plastic-wrapped packets of marijuana on its seats.
Police said the car was being escorted by a jeep bearing registration number Ga 2 Cha 615. When officers attempted to stop the vehicles, the people inside both tried to flee.
However, police managed to arrest 56-year-old Devnarayan Mahato, a resident of Dhobaha, Madi Municipality–5, Chitwan, who was driving the car, and 48-year-old Tek Bahadur Dong, a resident of Bharatpur Metropolitan City–24, Chitwan, who was driving the jeep.
During preliminary questioning, police found that the jeep had been used to escort the car. Further investigation into the incident is underway
