Education Minister Directs Completion of 11th Amendment to Education Regulations Before Dashain

Kathmandu, September 23-Education and Sports Minister Sasmita Pokharel has directed ministry officials to complete the process of the 11th amendment to the Education Regulations before the Dashain festival.

During a meeting with the ministry secretary, senior officials and members of his secretariat on Wednesday, Minister Pokharel instructed them to prepare the draft amendment promptly and proceed toward implementing the revised regulations.

The ministry has been working on the 11th amendment after complaints and concerns were raised over several provisions introduced through the 10th amendment. The proposed changes are aimed at addressing practical difficulties that have emerged in the implementation of the regulations.

According to the ministry, issues related to technical difficulties in teacher transfers and complications concerning school management committees are among the matters being considered for amendment.

The ministry has also conducted consultations with stakeholders at different stages. Education dialogues and discussions were held in all seven provinces to collect suggestions, with Minister Pokharel himself participating in some of the consultations.

A team led by Education Minister’s chief adviser Shailendra Jha, along with senior ministry officials and experts, collected recommendations from stakeholders across the country.

Minister Pokharel also referred to the government’s declaration of the current year as a year for legal reforms and directed officials to expedite the completion of laws and regulations falling under the ministry’s jurisdiction.

The ministry said the draft of the 11th amendment is being prepared with the objective of addressing problems that emerged after the 10th amendment, including concerns related to teacher transfers.
