SP Sudip Pathak Transferred from Parsa, SP Pawan Bhattarai Takes Charge

Kathmandu, July 29 — The leadership of the District Police Office in Parsa has been changed, with Superintendent of Police (SP) Sudip Pathak transferred to the Nepal Police Headquarters and SP Pawan Bhattarai appointed as the new chief of the district.

Bhattarai, who had been serving as the spokesperson for the Kathmandu Police Range, left for Parsa on Wednesday to assume his new responsibilities. He was transferred to Kathmandu from Palpa following the Gen Z movement and had since been working as the police spokesperson in the capital.

Meanwhile, SP Dan Bahadur Thapa, previously serving at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), has been assigned as the new spokesperson for the Kathmandu Police Range.

SP Pathak's transfer comes after allegations that he behaved inappropriately toward a delegation of doctors during discussions following the reported mistreatment of medical professionals at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj. The incident prompted the Nepal Medical Association and other healthcare professionals to demand his transfer.

Pathak had been serving as the chief of the District Police Office, Parsa, since October 2025 (Ashoj 2082 in the Nepali calendar). With the latest reshuffle, SP Pawan Bhattarai has officially taken over the leadership of the Parsa district police.
