Journalist Kishor Shrestha Taken to Court in Handcuffs

 


Kathmandu: Kishor Shrestha, editor of Jana Aastha weekly, was brought before the Kathmandu District Court in handcuffs on Thursday as police sought permission to keep him in custody.

Shrestha was arrested on Wednesday night on allegations related to the violation of personal privacy.

A hearing is currently underway to determine whether he should be kept in custody. Government prosecutors and Shrestha’s lawyers are presenting their arguments before the court.

After hearing both sides, the court will issue an order on whether Shrestha should remain in custody or be released.

Further legal proceedings will move forward based on the court’s decision.

The viral video shows Gupta, who was elected to the House of Representatives from Siraha Constituency-1, standing on the back of a moving Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle.
