Kathmandu, September 30-Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal returned to Nepal on Wednesday morning after participating in the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, arriving four days after Prime Minister Balendra Shah returned home.
Prime Minister Shah returned to Nepal on September 26, while Foreign Minister Khanal stayed on in New York to attend various high-level programs and bilateral meetings held on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
Khanal had left for New York on September 20 to participate in the UN General Assembly. During his visit, he hosted a high-level special event focused on climate change under the theme “From the Himalayas to the Seas: A Call for Action for a Climate-Resilient Future.”
The event provided an opportunity for Nepal to highlight the challenges posed by climate change and call for greater international cooperation toward building a climate-resilient future.
During his stay, Khanal also held meetings with his counterparts from various countries and discussed bilateral relations, mutual interests and areas of cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal’s active participation in the General Assembly and the minister’s high-level engagements helped present the country’s priorities and concerns on the international stage while furthering dialogue with other countries.
